In Halo 2, players had to deal with huge tanks that walked on bug like legs, these massive machines were dubbed as the “Scarab Tanksâ€. Taking on the Scarab Tank was one of the most exhilarating sequences in Halo 2. In Halo 3, the experience triples. In the new game you will battle the scarabs up to three times and sometimes they appear in pairs.
Halo 3 is the final installment of the Epic Halo trilogy. It was released to anticipating fans, September of this year. Halo 3 features familiar objects, weapons and scenarios found in Halo 2, but bumped up a couple of notches. It takes some getting used to at the beginning, so just be prepared to die repeatedly until you get the hang of it.
If in Halo 2, you faced this menace in one sequence, get ready to see more of it in Halo 3. In order to defend against the Scarabs you must know how to destroy it. This is the best way to defeat the Scarab tank.
The Scarab Tank appears at the start of a new chapter and your objective will be to destroy it. When battling with the scarabs remember that other than the laser at its mouth, the scarab also has a secondary gun at the back. So keep moving! Get on your mongoose and inflict damage, you will be guided as to exactly what part of the Scarab you need to hit. After the Scarab falls, board it to finish the job. Jump onto its back and find its core. It will appear like a disk shape glowing energy shield flanked by clip-like appendages on four areas. Aim at it and fire twice. Remember to get off the Scarab tank before it blows up.
If you are unable to get it the first time, review where you went wrong and go at it again. Checking out where you made a mistake is easier with Halo 3. The Playback feature allows you to revisit previous battles. There is no need for a special setting, Halo 3 just stores the video into your hard drive immediately. You can also take out video clips and screenshot of fights that you want remembered. You can then post it in your profile at Bungie.net. After all, this feature is not just for making you a better player. Use it to flaunt your skills for the world to see. Happy Scarab hunting folks!
