Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack Released!
Hello Everyone! There’s a new Halo 3 Map Pack on Xbox Live Marketplace, offering three brand new battlegrounds for 800 Microsoft Points.
The Heroic Map Pack offers 3 special and distinctive experiences.
These are the 3 maps available in the Heroic Pack.
“Standoff” – a perfectly symmetrical valley covered with “entrenched bases and fields of boulders.” And, after about 10 minutes of intensive play, monumental piles of armored corpses. This is a great map for Team Slayer, excellent for Objective games, and even large enough for a couple of vehicles. There’s locked-down bunkers you can use for bases and loads of places for cover for players trying to make their way from one base to the next. Now, some say it has a similar feel to Blood Gulch, but the terrain is very different.Next is “Rat’s Nest,” which is described as “an indoor vehicle paradise.” Rat’s Nest is a gargantuan level set in the corridors and tunnels of a base near Kilimanjaro. If you’re attentive and have a good memory, you may recognize parts of it from Halo 3’s Campaign mode. For all practical purposes, it’s a giant oval – Think of it like an underground NASCAR track with criss-crossing tunnels and lots of vehicles. Big team games is the reason this map was created, Objective and Slayer, however, it also works splendidly for Infection and Territories type games.
Last is “Foundry,” a Forge-friendly sandbox that’s ideal for shifting stairways, bridges and tunnels to your twisted heart’s delight. Here you can build almost any kind of map you can think of. This is one very unique map – designed from the get-go to be the most customizable Halo 3 maps ever created. Think of this one like a large Warehouse, which can be empted, and then rebuilt any way you like very quickly with walls, ramps, Mancannons and more.
Now here’s the kicker…
If you can be patient, All 3 maps should be made available for free download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace somewhere in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of new Halo 3 multiplayer maps.
For now however, to purchase and download the map pack, sign into Xbox LIVE on your Xbox 360 and then go to the Marketplace blade. Select “Game Store,” then select “All Games.” Scroll down to “Halo 3″ (you can hold down the right trigger to scroll a page at a time) and select it. Finally, select the “Heroic Map Pack,” then select “Confirm Download.” The cost is 800 Microsoft Points. If you don’t have points on your account, you can press the “X” button on your controller before selecting “Confirm Download” to purchase points.
