We’ve noticed there are a lot of people who seem to be sick of Halo. While it surely is the game that does not die, sometimes you have to applaud the efforts of a game that, two years on from release, is still so bloody popular.

How popular? According to Bungie, on average, every single day, there are over 1,000,000 unique Halo 3 users. Over one million. Every. Day.
Amazing isn’t it? Over 1 Million Xbox players are still loading up Halo 3 and proving their mettle in the online arena that is Halo 3.

In this first video documentary for Halo 3: ODST Gunnery Sgt. Eddie Buck introduces his team to you for the upcoming Bungie-developed shooter.

The video also walks us through the mission giving us a look at the new tech built into the game’s characters, from weapons to electronics. We also get a taste of some of the personalities driving these new characters and plenty of in-game footage.

I hear that we can expect more of this “video documentaries” in the coming weeks leading up to the Sept. 22 launch of the Xbox 360 game.

Feast your eyes on the new Halo Legends anime. Microsoft is teaming with five production houses for a series of 7 separate short films called Halo Legends.

The creative director overseeing the production is Shinji Aramaki, director of Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina. The shorts will be available on DVD and via digital media next year, but will preview on Xbox LIVE this fall on the Halo Waypoint. Waypoint will also feature content including podcasts, trailers and screen shots, some of it exclusive to the “experience.” Microsoft will also offer fans a “career system” and player rankings tied to “in-game and out-of-game accomplishments.”

While its not quite the Halo Movie we’re all hoping and waiting for, this at least gets Halo onto the screen and gives those marketing gurus some data to mull over and decide if a Halo movie will be as profitable as we all expect.

Halo 3: ODST’s amazing live action trailer didn’t just put itself together. No, it took teams of people working hundreds of man hours and a nice sprinkling of movie magic to create.

This behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Halo 3: ODST spot offers more than just a peek at how Brute’s are made into living, breathing, tiny motor-driven things. There’s also a brief live action sequence from the spot left on the cutting room floor, one that Halo fans will probably want to watch frame by frame.

Credit to Microsoft and Bungie, ’cause they really know how to put together a nice promotional movie, as evidenced by this new Halo 3 ODST live action trailer. War is hell, but also very cool when Covenant Brutes are involved.

A couple of weeks ago, Jude Kelley and Dan Amrich (of Official Xbox Magazine) recorded “Halo (All I Play-Oh),” a really well done spoof of “Snow (Hey-Oh)” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Well that’s old news, now someone’s created the spoof’s music video.

Considering Usethefork (the person who created the music video) had no video output and was setting up all the game action in a custom match, rather than with machinima tools, that’s a boat load of work!

Dan and Jude were more than impressed, promoting the vid on their Facebook pages and calling the video “beyond awesome” on the blog for their band, Palette Swap Ninja.

In the first of a new series of videos dealing with the expansion of the Halo universe, members of Ensemble, and the gaming press talk about Halo’s entire history.

Believe it or not, but the Halo universe isn’t just the Master Chief. Between the novels, the first-person shooter trilogy, and now Halo Wars, there’s a pretty rich universe to explore, and this video series aims to explore it, from the Spartans origins as a force to keep humanity in line to Master Chief’s last stand.

During the 5:40 minute video, we get views from the development team to industry experts as to the challenges of telling a prequel of the impressive Halo story.

Ever wonder what it would be like if Halo swapped out the fast-paced first person shooter thing for the turn-based RPG thing? Well, I’ll be honest, I didn’t. But somebody did though, and we’ve got this clip to prove it.

At just over 5 minutes, it’s rather long, but if you watch the first 45 seconds, you’ll get the idea.

Pretty well made actually. But we’re still fans of our original FPS Halo game.

In the latest video documentary of the real-time strategy game Halo Wars by Ensemble Studios, we are given a look at the individual units appearing in the game, from hordes of Spartans to swarms of Locusts.

Seeing the units in Halo Wars up close and personal like this, makes me more than a little excited about the upcoming game, especially at the prospect of finally getting to see whole squads of Spartans in action. The best part of the video though is the comparison that campaign lead Jerome Jones makes regarding controlling a squad of Spartans versus controlling the ultimate Spartan, Master Chief.

It’s be like if Batman was here now, and you heard stories that there used to be twenty Batmans, and that was when they could really kick ass.

Yes, you heard that right – Master Chief is the Batman of the future.

That and the cyclops looks like serious fun. Has anyone played the demo yet? What do you think?
