Peter Jackson Confirms Halo Game “No Longer Happening”

At Comic-Con, Lord of the Rings director and would-have-been Halo movie producer Peter Jackson told Joystiq he was no longer making a Halo game.

The Jackson project was announced back in September 2006 but no screenshot nor screenplay detail was released in the 3 years since. The proposed Halo movie which Jackson was set to produce ran afoul of financing complications, as Jackson states.

Last week, Jackson confirmed the game was dead, saying that it “sort of collapsed when the movie didn’t end up happening.”

All Halo Wars Leaderboard Data Erased from Xbox Live

Unbelievably, we’re here to confirm that ALL of Halo Wars leaderboard data – and by this, “all” means “everything” – disappeared from Xbox Live today, meaning braggin’ rights have been reset to launch day status.

“Human error” is blamed. It covers singleplayer. It covers multiplayer. It covers Trueskill leaderboards. It covers all matchmaking data. Gone. Says Major Nelson:

Ever since Bungie and Microsoft parted ways, Microsoft has been getting ready to produce more Halo games internally. Could those efforts now have been given a name?

Superannuation points us towards a trademark Microsoft have filed for use with “”computer programs, namely, game software for use on computers and video”. It’s called “343 Industries”. By itself, that might not seem so interesting, unless you remember our little floating friend.
